Mt. Pulag - Benguet

I just saw today (January 13) that I have more than 40 drafts saved. Hello backlog!

Mt. Pulag, Benguet
Nov. 19-22, 2010

This adventure made me realize how important exercise is, how amazing it is to be reacquainted with nature, how awesome it is to carry your own stuff and hike up the highest peak in Luzon with that smirk that you didn't ask someone to carry your pack for you. Haha. The cold temperature is a challenge but I've been sitting at "Siberia" my whole office life so Pulag's "coolness" has been tolerable for me and a thick-skinned frenemy, even though we managed to wake-up at 12am because we're too proud to bring blankets and "winter" stuff. Well, it was a freezing experience. Hahaha. I could flood this with so many photos but the peak has been the most extreme in terms of pulchritude. It's simply breathtaking.

Waiting for the sunrise with everyone wrapped in their warm clothing.

First time to ride "top load" or ride on the jeepney's roof, together with the spare tires and trek bags, and your face acting like a windshield (hello tree branches). Lucky us as we got there with a nice weather. The sun wasn't scorching hot when we trekked up the mountain, it rained a little when we were sleeping at the campsite, and the clouds when we went to the summit were really majestic. Enjoying the view with cups of hot coffee made the moment stupendous. Waiting for the sunrise has never been this exciting.

See the sea of clouds from Mt Pulag's summit.

MORAL: Who says you need to have a holiday to be able to enjoy your weekend? If you can't admit that Philippines is a beautiful place, you haven't looked beyond your backyard yet. :)

Candy Mountain! It was like a scene from The Lord of the Rings.
